Etcétera...
Antrepo No.3

Established in 1997. Live in Buenos Aires.

Etcétera... was formed in Buenos Aires in 1997 by a group of visual artists, poets, puppeteers and actors. It has worked closely with the human rights group H.I.J.O.S. (Children for Identity and Justice Against Forgetting and Silence) in developing and popularising 'escraches' [exposure protests], stunning street performances protesting against the impunity granted to the perpetrators of genocide during the years of the military dictatorship in Argentina.
Etcétera... creates humorous and disturbing situations, performatively playing with odd and infamous gestures and rhetoric. Their We are all Errorists manifesto, written in 2004, became the model for a worldwide political and philosophical movement that affirms error, compromise, confusion and surprise as productive qualities in life.
The errorista movement was initiated for a protest during George W. Bush's visit to Argentina, and the Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata in 2005. Through 'errorism' the otherwise prohibitive discussion of what 'terror' now constitutes becomes possible, opening up ways to consider the idea of 'error' as a human condition in the capitalist world that eschews mistakes and failures.
In Errorist Kabaret (2009), a theatre stage is surrounded by various life-sized characters and images, called 'gente armada', which means both 'armed' and 'constructed' people, representing different members of the 'International Errorista' movement. A surreal discussion about hopes and desires takes place between intellectuals, artists, revolutionaries and ordinary people speaking with desirable objects. Hearing the opinion of a bottle of wine, a teacup or a clown creates a comedy of socio-political reality from an unconstrained, errorist perspective.
